Williamsburg County FOIA Records Requests
Williamsburg County has a formal FOIA process in place. Records can be received on paper or by electronic transmission. If an electronic version of a record already exists, it can be provided free of charge. If it must be created, the county may charge for the time to reproduce it.
FOIA requests can be emailed to FOIA-Request@wc.sc.gov. Alternatively, mail your request to Tammi Epps-McClary, Clerk to Council, Public Service Administration Building, Post Office Box 330, Kingstree, SC 29556. Requests for records less than 24 months old must be acknowledged within 10 business days. The county then has 30 calendar days to produce the records after notifying you or receiving applicable fees. Records older than 24 months get a 20 business-day acknowledgment window and 35 calendar days to produce.
Under S.C. Code Ann. § 30-4-30(D), you do not need a written FOIA request to get arrest reports and crime reports from the past 14 days. The identities of people held at the Williamsburg County Detention Center for the past three months are also available on request during normal business hours without a formal filing.
